Overview

The project consisted of the design, documentation and administration of the refurbishment of the Junior Wing and the addition of a new reception and entrance to the school.

The Junior Wing, a 1970's fibre-cement sheet clad structure, has been completely overhauled to create spaces expressing modern day teaching practices, including flexible learning spaces, integrated computer networks and interactive white boards. The classrooms are supported by shared computer POD learning facilities.

The reception, which is located adjacent to the original masonry school building, is separated by a lightwell which offers a tenuous connection between the two contrasting buildings. The integrity of the existing building has been maintained by allowing the external masonry walls to be a feature backdrop to the new reception area.
