WALMER RESIDENCE

Perched high on a hill overlooking the family farm of 3 generations is the contemporary take on the traditional Australian Farmhouse. With a focus on creating a modern home for our clients returning to the family farm, a focus on connecting the internal spaces with external living and recreational areas was key. A cross-shaped plan was adapted to provide zones surrounding the house, arrival on the east to an elevated verandah, outdoor living on the north, views to the mountains in the west and services to the south. Flat roofed “link” buildings creates a separation of the roof forms with the addition of the shed and guest house, the site appears as a series of buildings continuing the tradition of farm properties of the area.
