MARYBOROUGH HOUSING
Designed as two wings of residential rooms with communal spaces between this development was to house training nurses at Maryborough Hospital. There are two types of accommodation being single rooms with shared bathrooms for first-year staff and larger units with small kitchens and own bathrooms on the upper floor for more senior staff.
A generous north-facing communal kitchen and living space is located on the ground floor and some smaller study nooks and roof terrace are located on the first floor. Each accommodation unit has its own outside space.
The arched main entry draws on the surrounding houses that also have arched elements in their facades. The building has a strong residential character despite containing 20 accommodation units and parking for 9 cars and the community health bus.
