WOODEND HOUSE
Located within a sub-divided lot, overlooking Mt Macedon and Hanging Rock, Woodend House is a contemporary family home, made from timber concrete and stone. Capitalising on a gentle slope of the land, the plan is a split level home over two levels. Cleverly design space allows for ½ height relationships provides an internal view between levels and solar access via high-level glazing. The lower level is sunken ½ a level into the ground proving “retreat spaces” for sleeping and play, the upper level surrounded by a veil of brass coloured screening provides views to the mountains and privacy from the street. The main living level sits halfway between the upper and lower, connecting to the ground level and a series of outdoor courtyards which have varying protection from the elements.
